The Chamber of Schools of Arts
Since the creation of ARES, the work of the Chamber of Schools of Arts has mainly focused on:
- Issuing opinions on reports, proposals, and preliminary draft decrees related to higher education;
- Updating legal texts specific to higher artistic education;
- New accreditations: based on quality and relevance criteria, the Chamber analyzes and selects applications that are then submitted to the ARES Board of Directors;
- Drafting and validating competency frameworks for bachelor's and master's programs;
- Defining minimum content requirements for bachelor's programs;
- Reforming initial teacher training;
- Assessing the impact of the Excellence Pact on artistic education (including PECA – the Cultural and Artistic Education Pathway);
- Continuing education: the Chamber validates new certificates issued by schools of arts and has also secured government funding for organizing continuing education programs;
- Funding for artistic research;
- Collaboration between schools of arts and cultural operators: a joint working group with the General Administration of Culture led, in 2022, to a large-scale survey on the professional paths of graduates from schools of arts. The report is available on the website of the Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles.
